Truss Bridges
The truss bridge is one of the oldest designs in use. They have been used since the beginning of railroads and are at home in any era. Although modern truss bridges are built of steel, one can still find wooden versions. These are perfect to replace those plastic "toy" bridges that you may have on your layout - they are very nice little structures, which can really improve the surrounding scene. Truss bridges can be used in groups of three or four to cover a larger span, even for tracks on a curve - there's nothing like a series of these bridges taking the track around a generous curve!
